Company Overview
The company is a VC-funded mobile advertising company, focusing on dynamic ad insertion technology for Mobile TV and applications. The company is looking for a hands-on mobile software expert to be responsible for the company's handset architecture. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor and make a significant contribution to the company's technology offering.
Position Overview
The Lead Handset Architect-Symbian will play a key role in defining the direction and scope of development for the handset component of the solution. The Lead Handset Architect-Symbian will be responsible for
* Defining the handset architecture for the Symbian platform
* Working with a focused development team to implement the solution
* Mentoring the team and building internal mobile expertise, and
* Working with the server-side architects and product managers to ensure a cohesive end-to-end solution.
Experience in developing and commercializing mobile systems and services is essential. The ability and desire to roll up your sleeves and contribute directly is a must.
Requirements
* Advanced degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
* 6-10 years experience in handset development, with mobile media player architecture experience
* Knowledge and experience in mobile network protocols and programming in 2G and 3G environments
* Symbian expertise required, Java ME, Windows Mobile, and BREW platform expertise desireable
* Deep programming experience on multi-threaded, resource-constrained devices
* Excellent architecture and design skills, including use of design patterns and UML
* Knowledge of industry standards and protocols relevant to the mobile space, including DVB-H, OMA, and XML
* Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
* Self-starter - Ability to take on multiple tasks and roles
